Recording of the conversation
In some countries, (for example, Spain, Italy, Belgium, France) theatres and other venues have started experimenting with recorded audiodescription in their performances. Two things come immediately to mind:
- Strong point: people with visual impairements can choose the day they wish to see a performance – thus, not being limited to one option, on a specific day and time, chosen by the venue.
- Weak point: a live performance is exactly that: live. Would we be paying a quality service to audiences with visual impairments if we don’t take into account the nature of the performance, the fact that timings may be different every day, as well as that unpredictable situations may occur?
These are two immediate reactions, there must be other details that we need to take into consideration. Join us for an online debate with:
- Christian Bruno, member of the audience (invited by Teatro Stabile di Torino)
- David Maß, Vice-President & CEO Germany, PANTHEA (Teatro Stabile di Torino’s partner)
- Irene Di Chiaro, Engagement, Communication and Development, Teatro Stabile di Torino
- Javier Jiménez Dorado, Director, Teatro Accesible Project (Aptent)
- María Luisa Morales, member of the audience (invited by Teatro Acessible)
